On any given day at St Joseph’s, whether a patient is being discharged, or a parent visits their little one, or an old colleague visits, the words of hope, joy and gratitude live in the hallways. We appreciate everyone’s feedback, stories, words of encouragement and responses to our newsletters and social media stories.
“I will miss my friends… and the girls… I’m friends with all the girls… I will miss Sister Charon and the nurses of Protea Ward.
The “workshop people” I miss a lot; they showed me how to do garden work. I love cleaning the garden and will work in the garden at home too.
I can’t wait to see my family; I am the middle child, and have a younger sister and an older brother.”
His friends reacted very excitedly because they too are middle children, and made the conclusion that this might be why they have become such good friends.

“I don’t think I will have been able to get where I am today if it wasn’t for St Joseph’s Home. It was my home away from home where I had a good connection with the teachers at the school. If I felt down I could always talk to the night nurse. I made so many friends who also had difficult times. I remember Uncle Stan and he had such a positive influence on me. The nurses at St Joseph’s are like mothers. It is a very special place.”

“It was very nice here at SJH, I was here since I was very young. I really loved being here sometimes I missed my family but the friends I grew up with were like family to me. I will miss my close friends. I am excited to go home but I am also sad to leave St Joseph’s. I will miss the nurses, the therapists and the Social workers and everybody at SJH.
I will miss all the parties, the cakes Aunty Cindy baked for us, the fish we ate on Fridays. And the clothes and shoes aunty Berenise and Aunty felicity gave to us.
I will always remember St Joseph’s home, I know that I will still see my friends at school next year and look forward to that. I will meet new people and make new friends ,but my St Joseph friends will always be my best friends.
I will have photos that I can take with me and this will be my memories that I can look at when I miss everyone at SJH.
I will miss aunty Anni and goggo Penny, we always look forward to their visits. Thank you for the time you spent with me and all.
