St Joseph’s Home is recruiting for the following positions:

RECEPTIONIST

The post is suited for someone who is highly organised, is outgoing and has a professional and friendly disposition.

The main purpose of the job is to manage the front office of the facility presenting a professional image to the public both in person and telephonically.

Main duties will include the following:

  • Answer switchboard, transfer calls and take messages as required
  • Accept visitors arriving at the reception and ensure that the visitors procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure all staff registers are updated
  • Monitor the CCTV playback screens to ensure that they are working
  • Maintain control of the printers with regards to paper and ink
  • Accept any mail and distribute accordingly
  • Spare key control
  • General filing
  • Assisting the management team with basic admin duties
  • Assisting the wards with administrative tasks including copying and scanning
  • Assist with data capturing and other ad-hoc administrative duties
  • Ensure that the reception area is neat and organised at all times

Job skill specifications and experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a reception area
  • Working experience of a busy switchboard
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Must be able to work weekend
  • Fluent English and Afrikaans required

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST:

We are looking for a qualified experienced and dynamic Occupational therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. This 24-hour facility caters for medically fragile children who require medical and rehabilitative care. The post is suited for someone who is passionate about working with children and working in a healthcare environment

The main purpose of the job is assessment and treatment of children with developmental and / physical difficulties within St Joseph’s to optimise their functional abilities and quality of life.

To work closely with the multidisciplinary team in the provision of holistic treatment to the children.

Main duties will include the following:

  • To provide an effective and efficient OT service to patients referred to St. Joseph’s on an inpatient and outpatient basis in order to improve their functional abilities and to facilitate the reintegration of the child into different life areas i.e. developmental, physical, psycho- social and school functioning
  • To maintain appropriate  and accurate up to date OT records as well as perform administrative duties proficiently and timeously
  • To plan, implement and supervise after school and ward therapeutic programmes together with other therapists
  • To provide student supervision to OT students and or interns allocated to SJH as required.
  • Enhance the therapeutic environment and OT function within St Joseph’s Home providing an optimal service delivery through ongoing professional development and ensuring best practice

 Qualifications:

  • BSC Occupational therapy degree
  • Must be registered with HPCSA

Job skill specifications:

  • Experience in working with children within a clinical/ hospital environment a preference
  • Training in NDT an advantage
  • At least 5 years of working experience
  • Knowledge in basis seating and splinting will be viewed as an advantage
  • Computer literacy
