OUR FIRST GALA - A MAJOR SUCCESSA special thank you to all the wonderful friends who came out in support of our “Mind the Gap” express. The April 30th Gala was a sell out event, that raised the Home’s profile, and helped to raise R65 000 in support of our medically fragile children. The Theme of the Gala was ‘Mind the Gap!’, a call to take care of the significant difference between the limited government funding we receive and the actual costs of running a hospital of this nature. Government only funds a percentage of our beds – the balance, as well as all capital funding is our responsibility. Archbishop Henry accepted the “Legacy of Healing’ award for an individual who best reflects the values and commitments of the Pallottine Missionary Sisters. We present the Corporate ‘Legacy of Healing’ award to PetroSA. PetroSA was the first corporation to sign on as a corporate sponsor of a medical ward in 2008-2009. Eric Ratshikhopha accepted the Corporate ‘Legacy of Healing’ award on behalf of Xstrata. Xstrata provided support to help renovate the medical ward playgrounds. Eric made an unexpected announcement when he shared Xstrata’s intent to become our first corporate sponsor a medical ward for 2009-2010. Next year’s gala event will honour a 75 year legacy of service on behalf of St. Joseph’s Home by the Pallottine Missionary Sisters, who, through the strength of their commitment are responsible for all that St. Joseph’s has achieved. We have begun to prepare for our 75th Anniversary Gala and welcome you to join hands with us by becoming a corporate sponsor or to volunteer to serve on our planning committee. |
Most of the costs associated with the gala were covered by supportive sponsors and friends. A special thank you goes out to Alte Technologies, Clicks, Douglas Green, Fairstep Printing, Fast prints, Freudenberg Nonwovens, Greenways Hotel, Lewis group, Marc Lottering, Melanie Scholtz, Multimedia AV/IT, Podlashuck Heritage Foundation, Shado Twala, Spar Western Cape, Sterling Electric Quartet, The Table Bay Hotel, Tribal Meetings, Unlimited Events Décor, WADG Advertising, and to the Wine Makers Association. |
